Hurricane Katrina & Lessons On Family

An adversity as powerful as Hurricane Katrina helps raise some important questions about the power of family:
  • What family type is better at coping? How does single parent compare to two parent & how do each of these compare with an extended family type?
  • Is the resilience of an extended family greater then other family types?
  • Would a family that has already been practicing the art of mutual aid & support fare better then most?
  • How about the needed leadership?
  • If a family has already formed the habit of acting as a united powerful economic force, would we not expect less anxiety and greater comfort among all family members?
  • Do we see how petty family conflicts are put into perspective?
