Extended Family & The Consumer Society

Peter C. Whybrow M.D. author of AMERICAN MANIA WHEN MORE IS NOT ENOUGH, points to the extended family as an important institution. Dr. Whybrow makes a great case for the importance of both "extended family and viable communities".

In short, Dr. Whybrow's examination of the American consumer, is another work which supports our view: That is, we need to relate within an extended family. Second, that we must consciously create environments friendly to extended family. A view that healthy individuals, and healthy communities are dependent upon a revitalization of the extended family.
